The
Hopi Prophecy: Listen to the Warning

Just before
the Harvest Moon, a lady who had adopted a young Hopi woman
invited our family to come along to visit the Hopi reservation.
Sakina had been visiting her precious Hopi family for 14 years.
We were pleased to be included in a group of six others who
would accompany her.
Hopi speak in
terms of family as we might use the word community. Family is
what we saw on the First Mesa. Extended family of her adopted
daughter were greeting Sakina at every turn. Craftsmanship
abounded in very detailed Tsachinas and hand formed pottery, all
carefully decorated with symbols of specific meaning.
Their homes
often came close to touching one another. After visiting Second
and Third Mesa as well, we came to realize that the lack of
plumbing and electricity was not because of poverty, but rather
from the Hopi’s choice to live simply, in harmony with natural
provision, without dependence on modern wires and pipes (and
distant utility companies).
Sakina took us
to see Grandfather Martin. He is considered to be an expert on
deciphering ancient symbols, and was asked to travel to Hawaii
where he helped those native people understand the meaning of
some of their petroglyphs. We took food and a container of water
to him. Sakina explained that bringing food was a simple Hopi
courtesy and the water was important because they were old and
their water source was all the way at the bottom of the Mesa-
quite a climb down and up everyday.
When the ten
of us arrived, Grandfather was weaving a beautiful wool sash for
a Butterfly Dancer to wear in an upcoming social dance. He
stopped weaving and cordially invited us to sit down, making
sure we all had something to sit on (we had no way of warning
him of our coming, because the Hopi had no telephones).
Then he asked,
"Does someone have something to show me or ask me?"
Sakina said
yes, that the fellow from Indiana did. Bernie came forward with
a drawing of a mental picture he kept seeing. It looked like a
volcano erupting and lightning all around it.
Grandfather
responded that yes, this is about the things that once happened
and will happen once again. The elders says all the sleeping
volcanoes will erupt in the same minute of the clock (I figure
it would take more along the lines of four months for them to
erupt all around the world).
Bernie said,
"I've been wanting to go to the San Francisco peaks. Should
I? And, what should I do there?"
"Yes,"
Grandfather replied, "go there and pray. Who knows how it
(the lava) goes up, and maybe goes down. Pray and maybe it will
go down."
He continued,
"Also, there are shown terrible storms and floods. This 'El
Nino' seems to be bringing much water even now. It will bring
floods in low places like Sedona (near the creek). Many people
are moving away from the low places. Many people are moving away
from California. The dam near Page (which dams up some of the
Colorado River to make 'Lake Powell', keeping the water from
flowing too strongly through the Grand Canyon) will break, and
the Havasupai people will be washed away. Even now they have had
to leave their homes during the big rain.
"We think
the time for the volcanoes and flooding will be next year. There
will be such things happening (natural disasters) that there
will be Martial Law. Then it will be good to stay home. If you
go out then and the Martial Law people see you, you will not
have a chance. They will tell you (where to go and what to do).
Stay home. Keep extra food at your home.
"There is
also a mechanical device (bomb) that will be set off high in the
air by the government. You must stay home. Some have underground
shelters. Some people have big windows and should at least put
wood over their windows. And stay home for at least a month.
There will be a chemical that will fall on everything. Many will
die. Stay inside or underground and, who knows, maybe some will
survive."
He went into
the other room of his house and brought out a worn-looking paper
bag. From it he pulled a carefully drawn color copy of a Mayan
prophecy, and an African prophecy as well. He explained many of
the symbols, and that their arrangement indicated a timeline. He
told us how some of the earlier symbols related to the events of
the past. At the end of the Mayan prophecy drawing were two
birds: the yellow one at the very end was the larger bird of
purification– the dark, smaller bird just preceding it was the
symbol of the bird that sings at night.
He then said,
"Like this bird that speaks at night, we, the Hopi people,
are to speak what we know now. The pure of heart, the children,
those with a connection to God, may be told directly by God what
to do in this time (of great calamities). Parents, do not make
your child do what you think in this situation. Let your
children decide what they need to do, for God may tell them,
since they are without sin. Many now are seeking a connection to
God. For some it is too late. Examine if you once had a
connection with God. Maybe you could hear something. Pray for
your families.
"We live
here high on this mesa because once, long ago, there were floods
in the low places, and it is coming again. This mesa does not
have a spring. We made an agreement long ago, that there would
be no spring in our mesa. It would make a weakness during the
floods and the shaking of the land. When the time of the
troubles comes, our mesa will be strong.
"Sometimes
I have travelled, even to Hawaii, but I will go no more. Now is
the time it is good to stay home. When these things come, you
stay home.
"At
first, Martial Law will tell you to drive slow and watch for
dangers because of the floods and volcanoes. They will take all
the wood from our houses. Did you know our government was told
it has too many people, so it gave AIDS to the people to make
the population smaller? It has even come to our tribe.
"When I
was young, I thought these things (prophecies) could never come.
But then as I grew older, some of the things started to happen.
Now we think these things are all coming next year. Some have
already started some places. Pray for your families. Maybe some
will survive."
Nightfall
slowly darkened the room as he was finishing. As we thanked him
for his warning and made our way down the steep mesa roads,
across the sweeping plains towards Winslow, I couldn't help but
think of Grandfather as the bird that speaks all he knows in the
night.
Writer's Note:
Personally, I think we are all one with God. We all have
Divinity as our truest nature, but some are more out of touch,
not being accustomed to listening to their highest inner
guidance. Maybe we do all need to use the connection or
"see if we have not already connected with God in the
past," and learn to listen again to that inner guidance.
Many have been
and are actively asking for divine blessing and grace to
intervene with regard to the calamities associated with Earth
changes. Some say that many calamities have been softened or
postponed in this way by collective prayers and benevolent
intents worldwide. Pray for your family, and the family of man,
for the best outcome for all concerned.
